CALIFORNIA - Google has suspended after several researcher found out several spyware applications that will 'infect' the Android Market.
Angry Birds in Android used for smartphone is Infected by Virus
Jiang Xuxian professor of computer science from NC State University found the malicious code named by Plankton in a number of applications installed on the Android Market.
This code appears in a number of applications related to the very popular games like Angry Birds and hid in the popular gaming applications, so it is difficult to find.
"The rogue application install additional code to Android devices where they are installed," said Andrew Brandt Webroot researchers, in a blog post, quoted by SC Magazine, Wednesday (15/06/2011).
"Additional functions provide remote access and control of Android devices. Unfortunately dentitas hackers still unknown at this time," he added.
Jiang found a malicious application is different from previously infected Android applications, in Plankton is using various exploits on the device to gain root access to the OS.
"Instead, the remote command provides access not only known for what can be considered sensitive data on mobile phones, including browser history, bookmarks, and setting the homepage in the built-in browser of Android," said by Brandt.
Jiang said that there are at least 10 infected application on Android Market from three different developers. Google seems to have dealt with the problem of Plankton.
"We recognize and suspend a number of suspicious applications from the Android Market," said by Google spokesman.
"We suspend the application and developer account that violates our policy," he said again.
Google has been busy moving the infected application from the Android Market in recent months. Last month, the company had to remove a number of applications that are infected with malware of DroidDream.
