Hotel guests in America are now able to play Angry Bird and order room service without leaving their iPad.
A growing number of hotels in America that provides a popular tablet computer, such as the iPad, to guests in their rooms. This is so that food and beverage orders increased and reduced staffing needs.
iPad facilitates Hotel Room service
An application developed by Intelity, headquartered in Orlando, allows guests to order food, surf the internet to find info about hotel facilities and attractions in the city, book a morning call to wake up, schedule the arrival of housekeeper, send a message to the hotel staff or other guests, and ordering a car rental service. Flight information and weather for 5 days in the future are also shown in this application.
Hotels provide iPad generally upscale hotels that have guests who frequently shop many items, including The Plaza in New York, Mondrian SoHo in New York, Hilton Inn at Penn, Philadelphia, and the Royalton Hotel in New York.
Hotel guests will be charged if they forget to return the iPad to the hotel. Some hotels put a device on the counter to prevent theft.
Intelity has been selling this application since two years ago until now. Most of these applications can be opened in smart phones, like iPhone, BlackBerry, Android phone, which is adapted to devices owned by hotel guests.
Some hotels, such as Wyndham Hotels, install this application on the PC version of the welcome page on the hotel's WiFi service.
According to CEO Intelity David Adelson, about 380 hotels in various cities in the U.S. is currently using the application and the numbers will continue to grow. Wyndham has made a standard trade mark, which means that all hotels are required to provide the device and the application for the hotel guests in the coming months. That includes 90 percent of hotels Wingate, Wyndham trademark.
"It's kind of a vehicle that self-serving," said Adelson. "Most tourists use it as a self-serving solutions in everyday life and more like it," added Andelson.
Hotel guests free to click the menus on the iPad or BlackBerry. Hotels that use the application reported an increase in ordering food in the room by 18 percent.
In the next few weeks, Intelity also introduced a tablet computer that contains the application menu on restaurant meals. Customers will be given an iPad or devices that run the Android operating system when they enter through the hotel door. They can browse, search for food menu, and use the device while in the restaurant.
This device also works in a conference at the hotel, allowing guests can view the meeting and exhibition space, chat with other participants, as well as read the papers of the speakers.
