TOKYO - Toshiba Corp.was allegedly greater annual gain, followed by fever smart phones that have an impact on demand for memory chips to store data. Companies from Japan's revealed to earn profits doubled until the end of 2010, thanks to sales of NAND flash memory and liquid-crystal displays (LCDs) used in tablet computers and smartphones, including Apple's iPhone and iPad.
Toshiba Profit would be enhenced by means of Smartphone's Booming
Toshiba reportedly received a net profit of 37.5 billion yen (USD456 million) during the three months ended December 31, 2010. Yet in the same period the previous year, Toshiba received only 14.5 billion yen, according to disitat Reuters on Monday (1/31/2011).
Not only that, even this figure exceeds previous estimates, which predicted only Toshiba's profit reached 70 billion yen. No doubt, the company had forecast a net profit increase of 70 billion yen to 100 billion yen.
Toshiba explained that their fourth-quarter profits have increased, following the more demand for smartphones and tablet computers. The market for NAND flash chips to store songs and photos on portable devices, it could be up 18 percent this year, after last year reached 38 percent.
"Toshiba made huge profits from the expansion of tablets and smartphones. This is Toshiba's main business and all went well," said MFA Global Securities analyst, David Rubenstein.
