SINGAPORE - analyst firm of Canalyst, announced that this year is estimated there will be more than 106 million phones will be shipped to Southeast Asia, increasing 19 percent from 90 million units shipped in 2010.

"Southeast Asia currently has the smart phone market is very diverse, yet dynamic," said Rachel Lashford, Managing Director of Asia Pacific Mobile & Canalyst.

Currently, Singapore has the largest mobile phone market. In 2010 alone, smart phones controlled by 61 percent of all mobile phones that are shipped into the country.

In addition, Canalyst also predict the growth of smart phones to lower middle class in other areas of Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, Canalyst say that Nokia is currently quite difficult in the smart phone market will continue to attempt to restore the glory of them.

"As soon as Nokia is managed through this transition period and successfully deliver products based on Windows Phone to several segments, then they will be able to restore their position in the smart phone market," said Daryl Chiam, analyst from Canalyst.

RIM predicted by Canalyst would expand its market into other Southeast Asian region, after the huge success in Indonesia. While HTC will also focus on growing their marketshare through a variety of products offered.
