Nokia reveals that Citizens Asia ia not so concerned with Phone Recycling
"The public still needs education and wider dissemination of information about mobile phone recycling program, because this is something new for the Asian community," said Senior Sustainability Manager Nokia South East Pacific Francis Cheong, on Wednesday (15/06/2011).
Onecauses of of its foreign concept of recycling mobile phones among people from Asia ,according to Francis is ,they did not realize that their unused mobile phones can be recycled .
"Moreover, people also do not know where to submit their used mobile phones and anyone who implement this recycling program. Therefore, we continue educating the public as well as providing recycling drop box location, easily accessible cell phone," he continued.
Another challenge in educating the public is how to convince them to surrender their old phones for recycling rather than sold on the market. Francis claims 'package' which will attract a large role in the community aware of the importance of recycling programs.
"The people of Asia are likely reluctant to discard anything. They would rather sell back unused mobile phones. But if you can pack an interesting campaign and provide detailed information how this program can help save the earth, the community will be called," Francis lid.
