HELSINKI - The dominance of Nokia in the smartphone market since 1996 and will end soon. Nomura Securities Analysts predict Samsung Electronics will become the world's largest smartphone manufacturer in the quarter.

Not only that, Nomura also indicated displace Apple Inc. Nokia's position and placing the Finnish company in the world's number three smartphone market.
"In 1996 Nokia launched the Communicator and since then they lead the smartphone market. But after surviving 14 years at the top, the Nokia seems to be right hand over his crown," analysts at Nomura said in a statement as reported by the Straits Times, Tuesday (06/14/2011).
Currently, the popularity of Nokia was increasingly sidelined by fever iPhone (Apple) and Android (Google). While in classroom low end, Nokia is difficult to compete with Asian products are very fast growing.
Realizing that it faces a difficult position, Nokia make a massive reshuffle last February by switching from pride to the Symbian software platform of Microsoft Windows Phone 7. Allegedly, the Symbian operating system will be completely removed from the handheld device upcoming Nokia in 2016.
