informal rumor: Apple to Use Screen of AMOLED for iPad 3

CALIFORNIA - Apple Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook said to have visited South Korea last week to speak with executives from Samsung. The meeting was allegedly about Apple's desire to move to the AMOLED screen iPad their third generation.


The claim comes from a story published by The Korea Herald, cited by OLED-Info.com. A source said the third generation IPAD can be launched towards the end of this year. So that was quoted on Friday (27/05/2011).

The report claims that Apple has to offer Samsung's "advance" to use AMOLED screen for tablet which is phenomenal. Currently, IPAD 2 uses an IPS LCD screen, the same screen used in the first generation iPad.

Other reports also claim the Samsung Super brighter AMOLED display screen, the reflection of sunlight that can reduce power consumption and more efficient. It is also claimed that the new screen has significant advantages than traditional LCD screens.

The report also said that if Apple switched to Samsung's AMOLED screen can cause problems for LG, which currently provides the LCD screen for iPad 2.

Rumors of Apple adopting AMOLED technology is not new, and even there before the iPad was officially announced last year. And last December, said that the limited supply of AMOLED screen is the main reason that Apple is ignoring this technology in their second iPad.
